Formed in 2003, AES exists to introduce positive change into cross-border, international and offshore financial services.

Our Management Team

Chief Executive Officer

Samuel Instone is the CEO of AES International. Sam is an internationalist who is hugely passionate about the delivery of cross border financial services, international advisory issues and the offshore industry.

Sam is responsible for helping the organisation to achieve its corporate mission of introducing positive change to international financial services. He believes this is best done by exporting UK best practice, training and competency, systems and controls, the highest standards of professionalism and best technology platforms to the rest of the world.

A graduate of King’s College, University of London, Sam served as a British Army Officer within The Household Cavalry Regiment (The Life Guards). He is a member of The Institute of Financial Services, The Chartered Institute of Insurance, the Personal Finance Society, the Institute of Personnel and Development and the Skinners Livery Company. A keen tennis and chess player, he lives in central London with his wife and family.

Chief Operations Officer

As the COO John Viney is an enthusiastic driver of change within the international marketplace. He is responsible for delivering the AES range of services to our business partners.

To achieve the corporate mission John has pioneered the introduction of a completely unrivaled range of benefits to ensure our Partners can drive their respective businesses forward in the most efficient and best manner possible.

A former British Army Officer, John commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurt into The Household Cavalry Regiment (The Blues and Royals). Away from the office John works hard on behalf of his Charity (Sir Oswald Stoll foundation) supporting veterans and raising awareness of the plight of vulnerable ex-servicemen and women. He is also an active member of The Chartered Institute of Insurance, the Personal Finance Society, and the Institute of Personnel and Development.

Chief Financial Officer

Pippa Miller is the CFO and in charge of the financial management of AES International. This includes the apportionment and oversight of the human resources, IT, client services, finance and compliance departments.

Taking great pride in the work that she does for AES, Pippa believes that legendary client service is critical for a successful financial management company and looks to ensure that the clients, advisers and business partners needs are met and exceeded wherever possible. She spends considerable time ensuring professional management processes are constantly improved and is responsible for the AES Investors in People Program.

After graduating from Kings College London, Pippa joined the media arm of WWP, the world’s largest global communications company. Rising quickly to the level of Business Director she developed an interest in financial services whilst working with HSBC.

Outside of work Pippa enjoys spending much of her time keeping fit by regular visits to the gym and playing netball for a local team.

AES International is the trading name of a leading organisation of independently owned and managed international financial services firms. Partner firms and their advisers either are or belong to separate independent firms. Each member is either an independent legal, financial and administrative entity, commonly organised under the laws of the country where it practices or established as a registered branch of AES Financial Services Ltd (UK)

All Member firms are expected to adhere to and show commitment to our UK company’s policies, procedures and methodologies. This company is AES Financial Services Ltd which is directly authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority.

AES is: -

  • Licensed in all European Economic Area States and in the UAE. Branch Establishments include Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland and Poland.
  • Both Market In Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD) authorised
  • Licensed to hold and control client money
  • Authorised to safeguard and administer client assets (both with and without arranging)

Our network involves all of our partner firms:

  • Adopting AES Internationals methodologies, software and risk management requirements as appropriate
  • Adopting AES Internationals quality assurance and ethical policies including those related to independence regardless of a local regulatory requirement to do so or not
  • Giving advice we believe in and would take ourselves
